Sleeping at the Crosswalk

This video is downright hilarious. Check the older woman at the crosswalk before the guy honks the horn, she is either asleep or totally just using the power of the old people!

Oh so close...

Well today I am happy to report that I did not receive the "florida bird" today but I will tell you what did happen... I was on my way to lunch and as I get to the parking lot, I was turning in and stopped as I saw a mini van coming out of the same isle that I was getting ready to turn down. I have my truck that was larger than the mini van that had an older couple inside and they were also taking up half the isle by being close to the middle. So I motioned for them to go ahead (pretty much to get out of my way, with a nice thought of course) but he quickly pointed that he was having to turn my way. So I went with it and I turned in (knowing I was not going to make the turn in one motion) getting close to the mini van but still a good foot and a half from it. He throws up his hands at me, I just smiled and thought I tried to let you go but you were insistent and stubborn.

So I didn't get the bird my friends but I can tell you that the old couple was staring me down and not very happy. You think it's because I'm younger?

No Bird, but there was a Tree

Okay so if you read my last post, I'm trying not to get the bird from the old people drivers (not that I can control that but you know). Well I am happy to report that I did not have the "FL bird" fly my way after I headed out from work BUT I did happen to watch an older man drive right into a median and hit a small tree enough to knock it out of the ground. There was no one around him as I watched him from the other side of the road, so I have no clue to why or how he managed to run up the median and snap a small tree from its roots...

So today there was no bird, but there was a tree. I'll report again tomorrow if I am 2 for 2! (and if I'm not I'll still let you know)

Trying to Dodge "the bird"

Okay so I had this discussion with someone the other day about how the older people drive here in Florida. I told them that I get flipped the bird at least a few times a week especially in the "season" time. They laughed saying it must just be you... So I am going to try and not get flipped off this week by an older person. Let me note too that I don't go piss them off, it's somehow like I said earlier in a post that I go about my way driving and they think I'm the bad driver...

So as I leave work today I will hopefully try and dodge "the florida bird."

You have to check out this video of this older person backing out of the driveway. It's hilarious.

Go ahead, pull out in front of me...

Posted by Skippy | Labels: , , , , , , | Posted On at 2:44 PM

So I was driving along today in the right lane going the speed limit which happened to be 45mph. I was watching the turn in's on the road to make sure no one was possibly coming to pull out in front of me when low and behold, a large tank (that had to be a mercury) was up in the near distance. I could see him getting ready to pull out in front of me and just as I thought it, he, without a stop or hesitation, went right through the stop sign and pulled right in front of me. Let's also note that I was only about 15-20 ft away from his car when he proceeded to pull out... I slammed on my brakes but it I still was right on his tail considering he pulled out RIGHT in front of me. As he finally sees me in his rear view mirror on his tail, he swerves across the road, I guess I scared him being as close to him as I was. Hmm wonder how that happened fella? So in him not seeing me to pulling out in front of me and then swerving into someone else's lane because my truck scared him, he sticks his arm out of his window and he flashed me the bird...How does that match up?

So if you're driving along and you happen to see this image here in Florida, don't be alarmed it's completely normal.

Typical day at a stop light in FL...

Posted by Skippy | Labels: , , , , , | Posted On Friday, August 21, 2009 at 7:16 PM

I start out my morning heading out to work, I turn onto the avenue and start to make my way to the office. As I'm sitting at the light I see person riding their bike, perfectly happy with not a care in the world. Not two seconds later, there was a car coming toward the person on the bike at quite a fast pace with no sign of slowing down. As the car nears, I notice it's an old person that can barely see... they finally see the bike rider and slam on their brakes scaring the mess out of the person on the bike. As they hold up their arms asking them "what the heck!? did you not see me?" The old person responds with flipping them the bird and goes about their way....
